 Sands of Iwo Jima (1949)
IMDB rating: 7.10
Plot: John Marion Stryker is the ultimate Marine, a tough rifle squad leader who in 1943 is assigned a squad of new recruits saddled with three veterans and an old enemy of Stryker’s from previous duties in the Far East. One recruit in particlar is a source of friction with Stryker, Peter Conway, whose father was Stryker’s CO at Guadalcanal and who felt his son was too soft and cowardly to be a Marine. The squad grows more and more resentful at Stryker’s increasingly brutal training regimen and his lack of sympathy for the varied personal problems of the recruits, but his determination to mold them into fighting men helps save their lives when the squad is landed at Tarawa in November 1943 and Stryker risks his life to blow up a Japanese bunker that has slaughtered Marines trapped at a log wall. The now battle-tested squad becomes more closely-knit and Stryker’s relationship with the men warms as the squad eventually finds itself in the bloodiest island battle of the war, at Iwo Jima.

Angel and the Bad Man is great; She wore a yellow ribbon; and the ones you listed as well. He was a great actor.

I think John Wayne was overrated. He played every part the same.
Steve B | Jan 23, 2008
1. The Searchers
2. The Quiet Man
3. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
4. Big Jake
5. Horse Soldiers
As much as I love John Wayne, I’m shocked I haven’t seen any more of his movies than I have.
Yeah, he played the same role over and over (with a few notable exceptions, primarily The Searchers). But, his movies were still very enjoyable. Not deep, but fun.

Bridges of Madison County, The (1995)
IMDB rating: 7.00
Plot: The path of Francesca Johnson’s future seems destined when an unexpected fork in the road causes her to question everything she had come to expect from life. While her husband and children are away at the Iowa state fair in the Summer of 1965, Robert Kincaid happens upon the Johnson farm and asks Francesca for directions to Rosamunde Bridge. He explains that he is on assignment from National Geographic magazine to photograph the bridges of Madison County. She agrees to show him to the bridges and thus begins the bittersweet and all-too-brief romance of her life. Through the pain of separation from her secret love and the stark isolation she feels as the details of her life consume her, she writes down the story of this four-day love affair in a 3-volume diary. The diary is found by her children among her possessions and alongside Robert Kincaid’s possessions after Francesca is dead. The message they take from the diaries is one of hope that they will do what is necessary to find happiness in their lives — whatever is necessary. After learning that Robert Kincaid’s cremated remains were scattered off Rosamunde Bridge and that their mother requested a similar disposition for her own ashes, the children must decide whether to honor their mother’s final wishes or bury her alongside their father as the family had planned. Adapted from the novel by Robert Waller, this is the story of love that happens just once in a lifetime — if you’re lucky.

IMDB rating: 7.40
Plot: An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash.

IMDB rating: 7.40
Plot: Germany in the 1970s: Murderous bomb attacks, the threat of terrorism and the fear of the enemy inside are rocking the very foundations of the yet fragile German democracy. The radicalised children of the Nazi generation lead by Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin are fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism: American imperialism supported by the German establishment, many of whom have a Nazi past. Their aim is to create a more human society but by employing inhuman means they not only spread terror and bloodshed, they also lose their own humanity. The man who understands them is also their hunter: the head of the German police force Horst Herold. And while he succeeds in his relentless pursuit of the young terrorists, he knows he’s only dealing with the tip of the iceberg.

how do you enjoy the full moon?
I wrap my kids up in blankets outside and make up moon stories. hilarious when they go ..yeah right dad!
My dad would wake me up with come see the moon and tell me tales of sputnik and the man on the moon and how people used to think it was actually made out of cheese. Now i teach my kids those stories and thanks to nightskygirl’s telescope expertise i ordered a couple of 6 inch made for kids orion telescopes and teach them about the craters of the moon.
I told them Abbott & Costello are still on Mars and they believed me!
Full Moon is the night which i called "Lucky Night"
Cause it has enough light that can protect us from the dark, but they say that when it is full moon there are monsters, but i don’t believe it.

 Barbie as Rapunzel (2002)
IMDB rating: 5.10
Plot: In this contemporary twist on the classic fairy tale, Barbie (voiced by Kelly Sheridan) uses the power of her own creative energies to paint her way out of the confines of a castle keep and save her prince from the nefarious clutches of Gothel, the evil witch (Anjelica Huston). It’s a charming animated tale that finds Barbie far from the sandbox and in a fantasy land with rabbits and dragons for friends and a chance at romance.

What do you think of this text? Typos aside - not a native speaker?
Father Riley, the confessor of the monastery was looking out of the narrow window, his warm, blue eyes filled with sorrow as he was listening the discussion taking place in the old and Spartan decorated room.
"It is my conclusion that sister Dolores is suffering from a very peculiar form of schizophrenia. She seems convinced that she is being visited by night by this demonic entity she calls Yasir. I would recommend getting professional help", Mr. Gonzales, the psychiatrist they had sent for concluded.
"And what exactly do you mean professional help", Mother Superior cut in.
"It’s been almost a month, now, and she is getting more and more hysterical. You should know that, as days go by, her situation is getting worse. If I had known at the right time." the psychiatrist’s eyes fixed themselves accusatory on the priest’s back.
The priest felt the gaze and with a sigh turned around, pulling off his round glasses.
"You know that I have sworn to keep the secrecy of everything I hear in the confessional.", he replied softly.
Mr. Gonzales fought the urge to jump off the chair and yell. The poor girl had had to go hysterical during the mass for him to be called, and, when Mother Superior had asked for him professional help, the sickness had already began engulfing her. Taking deep breaths to calm himself, he added in a tone laced with sarcasm:
"And you are not convinced she is having hallucinations either."
"My son, in my world, what often seems impossible is not. Blind people see, deaf hear, and dead people resurrect through the sheer will of our Lord."
"I am a good Christian, father," the psychiatrist brutally cut in," and I do not dare to question the miracles. But now, in this century.I find it hard to believe that something akin to miracle is happening. A daemon at night visiting a nun ..excuse me for saying so, Mother Superior, but this girl must be having only the natural urges. I am even surprised she hadn’t experienced them so far. She is only 21, it is only normal for her to have erotic dreams, even if she is currently a nun. One cannot escape nature."
"I wish that were true", Mother Superior spoke, a tinge of regret in her voice, "That would have been a fortunate case. You see, doctor, nobody ever forced her to remain here. Never. But we are the only family she has ever had, and I know she loves us dearly, for we too love her. Dolores is the younger of us, and unfortunately, we could offer her little of the youth’s joys. I have taken her to the town a few times, but she is as skittish as a mare, especially when it comes to men. I must confess I feel guilty about it, for I have a feeling she does not belong in a monastery. I would have loved if she were to get a family of her own, yet, unfortunately, it seems that we have not prepared her enough for the outer world." She finished in a gentle voice.
"Yes, we have discussed these things before, and, once again we don’t seem to come to a mutual conclusion. I have discusses to my superiors and we have decided to move her into a Mental Institution!"
"You can’t do that!" the father’s voice was angry. "She is not crazy! Putting her in there will only make things worse!"
"She thinks she has sex with a daemon! Really, father, I can’t believe you actually think she’s telling the truth. We followed her, remember? We followed her for a week, day and night and nothing out of the ordinary has happened!"
"I must say I agree with father Riley on this matter. Dolores will remain here, and we shall look after her as well as we can. Taking her out of her home to forcibly move her to a mental facility will do nothing but further damage."
"I am truly sorry that you feel this way" the psychiatrist rummaged through his briefcase then stood up, handling a file to the Mother superior. "These are the papers, I have all the clearances I need. As I depart I shall take her with me to Madrid. You are, of course allowed to visit her every time."
"But.."
"I am sorry, but I will save this poor girl’s mind. I assure you that once I’m done, she will be a happy young woman.", he concluded. "Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must go and see what she is doing."
As the door closed with a low hiss behind him, Mother Superior spoke in a tired voice, rubbing her forehead:
"What have we done?"
I think it’s very interesting.

 Half Past Dead 2 (2007)
IMDB rating: 4.10
Plot: Long time inmate Twitch (Kurupt) gets himself transfered to a tougher prison than the re-opened Alcatraz. He claims it’s to be closer to his lady but his real motives are a bit more grandiose. There he crosses paths with Burke (Bill Goldberg) a bulky prisoner who can take care of himself. Twitch, despite being less muscular, is just as mouthy and is pretty much the same. But there is a gang war brewing between the black and hispanic inmates…

Early signs of pregnancy?
Ok, i have a friend (I will point out I’m male, so its not a "I have a friend **which is me**" kinda deal, lol)
So yeah, i have a friend who is worried about pregnancy and doesn’t have access to the internet so i said i’d ask for her.
She said that around 3-4 weeks ago she had unprotected sex, and was due on 10 days ago, and came on for just one day if not half a day, whereas she has always had the full cycle of 5 days? for the past 5 years (i have no idea what I’m talking about incase you can’t tell) She has also noticed that some days she’s been needing a pee every two hours, while others she’s been going as usual. She also said shes been feeling sick, which i think she’s assuming is morning sickness, and has been having pains in her upper chest, beneath her breasts but above her stomach which i realize is probably unrelated but thought i’d mention it just incase it is related. Also shes been absolutely exhausted, she works around 50 hours a week between a part time job and her Work Placement for college, but shes done that for 20 weeks so far so is used to that, but feels even more tired than normal and led down for 2 minutes today while i made her a drink, came back upstairs and she was completely dead to the world for afew hours.. She is planning on getting a Pregnancy Test, but typical teenager, is afraid to get one and is getting an aunt to get her one on the weekend i believe, (she hasn’t told parents incase shes wrong) but shes still worried that will flash up saying negative when she is pregnant because of unreliability? She is next due on in another 8 days, however is on holiday at the time so is intending on starting the next course of her pill without a break to skip the period? (I really have no idea on this whole thing.)
I think thats everything, if someone who knows there stuff can tell me whether they can be are or aren’t signs of pregnancy then it would be awesome, and i’ll pass the information on!
Thanks!!!!
Just incase anyone else feels like responding, i will answer a question put forward by another answerer.
Yes she was on the pill but had a ‘funny month’ I’m not sure what she means by that, her words were "i messed up on my pill" so I’m assuming she forgot to take several or something similar. She has got a test now and wants me to come round for her to use it so soon we’ll have an answer from that.
Well done you - you got that lot across pretty well!
It’s best to ignore all other signs apart from a missed period, as they can be misleading. If her period is normally 5 days and it was all of 1 or even 1/2 a day, that could be implantation bleeding (where the fertilized egg burrows into her vaginal wall, causing slight spotting of blood). Only saying it could be, though. You mention her being on the pill - was she on the pill when she had "unprotected sex", do you know? If she was, it’s highly unlikely that she’s pregnant and it could just be that she had a weird period, which sometimes happens on the pill. If she wasn’t, she would do well to take a pregnancy test at the time she expects her next period, before she starts the new pack of pills. Might not be news she wants on holiday, but better that than being pregnant and using birth control pills.
Her symptoms could be for all sorts of other reasons, not least worry about whether or not she’s pregnant (which can also affect her last period, making it different to normal). If she didn’t want to wait until she expects her period to take a home test, she could go to the doctors and get a blood test done - it’s a lot more sensitive than the home pregnancy tests and she’d be able to go a little earlier than if she used the home test (which might work out well with her holiday coming up).
Wish her good luck from me - it’s scary stuff at times! And good on you for trying to help

Tell your friend almost the same symptoms she gets when her period is about to come on. breast tenderness, nausea, feeling faint, cramping. those are a few signs. pregnancy test are reliable, tell her to take it first thing in the a.m., the first time she urinates.
